Are Convection Gauges Best for Wide Range Vacuum Measurement?

Convection gauges are notoriously non-linear; such that you only have a rough idea of the real vacuum level at any given point, and repeatability is often a serious issue.

There are competing technologies that measure from 1000 Torr down to 1x10-4 with excellent linearity and attitude insensitivity, such as sensors that combine a thin film pirani with a piezo-resistive sensor.

One such product is offered by Teledyne Hastings Instruments of Hampton, VA:  http://www.teledyne-hi.com/pdfs/PB-143%20rev-0209_HPM-2002.pdf

IES Technical Sales is a value added technical sales, distribution, and solutions provider serving the high technology vacuum, plasma/thin film, temperature, fluid handling and metrology markets.
